The Comcast Debacle for the Layperson

November 17th, 2007

Since the whole Comcast / Bit torrent has hit the news wires, confusions about what is really happening, and how it happens to be somewhat illegal abound. I'm writing this primer on the particulars on what happens and where things go really wrong.

This is a complex matter, so instead of griping about the dearth of information on what really happens, I'll try my best to document things as I see them.

Internet Hate Machine

They call themselves Anonymous, they're hackers on steroids…

God. That is epic. It's an old clip, but still pretty damn hilarious. A classic.

Anonymous was nice enough to make up a spiffy music video. It's rather longish at 7 minutes, but nicely done.

Misc

November 15th, 2007

Got a new ad thing in the mail yesterday for Cabelas. It was the first one that I ever seen before, so I thumbed through it to see what interesting goodies might be in store for me.

I didn't have to get further than the first page to come across this fine technological gem

Lunch!

November 13th, 2007

According to Wendy's I had a total of 1,250 calories for lunch this afternoon. I opted to pick up a Baconator (since I was pretty hungry and, dammit, it's bacon). Now I'm feeling pretty silly to be taxing my already iffy heart all that much more.

I call them bacon grenades.

Aah, bacon. what other food on earth is so glorious, so incredible, that you wrap it other foods around them just to make those foods taste better?

Sick Day

November 12th, 2007

I woke up this morning feeling pretty crappy, so I ended up playing hooky from work and spending the balance of the day playing [HL2](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-Life_2) and enjoying the hell out of it.

I'm not a huge gamer, so it takes a while before I end up playing the more popular titles out there. I would have to say that HL2 really deserved the name 'best game ever'. So far, so good. really love it.

I think Highway 17 was my favorite level so far. Dark, misty, driving a dune buggy down a mostly deserted road and fighting off things that pop up here and there. The best 'post-apocalyptic' sort of feeling that I've ever gotten from a game, really.

I suppose this will be a small update this evening. Just wanted to yap about HL2 for a minute or two before getting some sleep.

The lovely wife was photoshopping the pubic hair of one of her friends that she photographed over the weekend. Long story there, kids.

Heard from Gizmo this evening. It's been a very, very long time. Really good to hear from her. More on that later as well.

Cheers,

tom
